A Confident Bride

I've seen a lot of different "getting ready" photos on the wedding day, but when Marie put on a pair of pink rubber gloves and started to rinse the dishes an hour before her ceremony, I knew it was blog material!

Her wedding to Jim on Saturday was a pure joy to photograph, and I knew after the dish-washing episode what a confident person she really is. After all, if you believe in Murphy's Law as I do, how could you lean up against a sink in your wedding gown? If you are like Marie, just smile and everything turns out beautifully--which it did!

Marie and Jim's online gallery will be ready before they return from their honeymoon, so stayed tuned...

Getting Ready
Mother Nature

Gina and Will's wedding on Saturday at the Liberty House Restaurant made for some interesting photos thanks to the flip-flop weather we had. I arrived at the venue as rain was coming down sideways, the radio warning of flooded roads and downed trees. We had planned to do the portraits outside with the skyline as a backdrop, but it looked impossible two hours before the ceremony. We used an interesting spot in the reception room instead, but I was still hoping for a break in the weather before it got dark.

As luck would have it, that break came when the ceremony started and we could actually see the sun for the first time in two days! Kathleen Duxbury, who was second-shooting with me, was tickled pink because she was able to shoot some infrared images as the sun set. As dusk approached, we went out on the patio for some photos with a moody blue sky. Fifteen minutes later, as darkness fell, the second wave of the storm hit and covered all the windows with rain, creating a pretty texture for a table shot by diffusing all the spotlights outside.

But one of my favorite shots is of the dancing shoes of three of the guests, who were ready for a good time!
